Five healthy snack boxes to power you through that afternoon slump.
Whether you are a morning or an evening person, you've probably felt that afternoon slump! That feeling that seems to hit you like a tonne of red bricks. Once that clock hits 2 o'clock your body seems to be screaming "NAP TIME". But alas, you're stuck at work for another few hours, so you drag your tired booty over to the coffee machine and caffeinated your way through the rest of the day. Well, I'm here to tell you you're doing it wrong. There is a healthier and better way to power through your day!
One of the best things I ever learned was HALTT. HALTT stands for: Am I hungry, angry, lonely, tired, or thirsty? I like to think of this every time I begin to feel that afternoon slump coming on. You're probably thinking that you do this all the time and it's obviously fatigue. Hence, why you always reach for that afternoon coffee. But, more often times than not it is usually hunger and/or thirst. Think about it, when was the last time you ate a full nutritious meal? Maybe you last ate at noon and now that it's two o clock you're feeling less than fresh. The body thrives best on smaller more frequent meals a day. Therefore, you're naturally going to start feeling all kinds of yucky when you go longer than two to three hours between meals. Instead of reaching for that sugary coffee or a handful of M&M's from the staff lounge, reach for one of these five snack boxes I'm about to share with you!
Each box contains mostly whole foods with a sprinkle of dairy and refined sugar. All of the boxes I'm about to share with you have approximately 300-400 calories depending on the amount of each component you choose to include. To make any of these boxes fully vegan swap cheese for vegan cheese, cool whip for coconut whipped cream, and ranch for hummus or guacamole.
