Tips, Tricks, and Modifications
- Yes, you really have to blanch the potatoes first. If you don't do this they won't be as crispy. This is the "secret" to perfectly crisp french fries, so please don't skip it.
- Yes, you can add on other herbs and spices. I use this recipe as a base for all oven baked potatoes, so its super versatile. If you're looking for ideas garlic and parmesan would be a delicious seasoning combo to add.
- No, you don't have to peel the potatoes. I never peel the potatoes with this one. Mainly because I am lazy and just want to get these delicious fries into my belly ASAP. But, if you want to peel them go for it, that's fine too!
- If you've never tried it, use seasoned salt instead of regular salt. Once you try seasoned salt on anything, you'll never go back. Just sayin'.
- Don't overcrowd your baking pan. If you need to, use two pans and place them on separate racks in the oven. If you don't place the potatoes in a single layer it will either take much longer to get them to cook or won't ever get crispy.
